New Project with IBM on Enterprise Systems Energy Efficiency

29.05.2026

On May 29, 2026, we celebrated the kick-off of our new cooperation project with IBM continuing our successful collaboration since 2023. The project focusses on benchmarking the energy efficiency of enterprise systems (such as IBM Z) designed for maximum availability and reliability.

Energy efficiency is a crucial concern in the IT sector. Data centers world-wide consume substantial amounts of electricity to meet the enormous and ever-growing demand for computational power. In this exciting new project, we will collaborate with our colleagues at IBM on developing new approaches for energy efficiency benchmarking and optimization of enterprise systems running mission-critical applications.

From the Chair of Software Engineering, the project is led by Maximilian Meißner. Thomas Pohl is the lead on the IBM side.
