20.11.2018On November 29 - 30, 2018 the second installment of the conference "Crypto-Currencies in a Digital Economy" will take place in Berlin. Prof. Dmitrienko will be among the speakers.
The conference "Crypto-Currencies in a Digital Economy" is an academic and interdisciplinary conference on cryptographic assets and distributed ledger technology. The event will be held at the Weizenbaum Institute in Berlin, Germany.
Prof. Dmitrienko will be present on Friday, 30th of November with her talk "What you chain is not what you gain: Data inclusion attacks in Bitcoin", where she focuses on possibilities to include malicious or illegal data in blockchains. Due to the pseudonymous nature of Bitcoin and Ethereum accounts, it is dificult to hold malicious users accountable for data inclusion. On the other hand, the insertion of illegal data into an appnd-only ledger might result in a situation where it would be illegal to download, distribute and verify the blockchain in some countries. Prof. Dmitirienko will present different ways this attack could be carried out, as well as possible soultions to this problem.
