Dagstuhl Seminar on Self-Aware Computing
The Dagstuhl Seminar 15041 on "Model-driven Algorithms and Architectures for Self-Aware Computing Systems", co-organized by Samuel Kounev together with Jeffrey O. Kephart (IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center), Marta Kwiatkowska (University of Oxford) and Xiaoyun Zhu (VMware), took place from January 18 to 23, 2015. The seminar brought together 45 international experts from the areas of software engineering, systems modeling & analysis, AI, machine learning, autonomic computing, and data center resource management. The presentations are available for download from the seminar website (see links below). The report on the seminar has been published in May 2015 and contains further information and details on the seminar itself and on individual presentations, as well as discusses outcomes of the seminar.
Initiated and inspired by the seminar, a new community is emerging at the intersection of several research communities. To ease communication, a mailing list and a LinkedIn group are now available. The mailing list and LinkedIn group are open to anyone interested in following further developments and/or joining the community. These communication channels will be used for significant and important announcements relevant to the members of the community.
A follow up initiative inspired by the seminar was the writing of an academic text book on "Self-Aware Computing Systems" published by Springer in February 2017.
