On May 29, 2026, we celebrated the kick-off of our new cooperation project with IBM continuing our successful collaboration since 2023. The project focusses on benchmarking the energy efficiency of enterprise systems (such as IBM Z) designed for maximum availability and reliability.

At ICPE 2026, leading researchers discussed the future of performance engineering in the GenAI era, featuring a panel where Samuel Kounev joined as panelist together with Bjarne Stroustrup (Creator of C++), Leana Golubchik, and Valeria Cardellini. The event was preceded by an invited WEPPE talk on fair and reliable benchmarking of AI systems delivered by Samuel Kounev.

Our  head of the Secure Software Systems Group, Prof. Dr. Alexandra Dmitrienko, has been appointed as Full Professor at the University of Duisburg-Essen.

The paper "WoundAmbit: Bridging State-of-the-Art Semantic Segmentation and Real-World Wound Care" by V. Borst, T. Dittus, T. Dege, A. Schmieder, and S. Kounev has received the Best Student Paper Award at the ADS Track of ECML PKDD 2025.

Prof. Samuel Kounev delivered a Keynote on "Serverless Scientific Workflow Engineering for Interdisciplinary Research in Earth Observation and Computational Ecology" at the 21st IEEE International Conference on eScience. Chicago, September 15-18, 2025

CACM has recently published an article about our interdisciplinary research project "ROOT" in a special section on "Sustainability".

The paper "Quantifying Data Leakage in Failure Prediction Tasks" by D. Grillmeyer, M. Hadry, V. Lesch, V. Borst, R. Leppich, A. Bauer, and S. Kounev has received the Best Artifact Paper Award at ICPE 2025.
